Industry call to support UWL

Friday 26 April 2019

The Unified Water Label (UWL) has gained real traction in recent months and the industry now has an important opportunity to support the journey towards a Voluntary Agreement (VA), at the Brussels Ecodesign Consultation Forum, which should be held in July.

The European Commission DG Environment has invited representatives to present the UWL at this forum to scrutinise the VA proposal put forward by the UWL, and seek evidence of the road towards representing 80% of units sold in the marketplace.

The success of the UWL is now in the hands of the industry and the time is right for all manufacturers to show their support so that this target of 80% of units (taps and showers initially) sold display the label, can be achieved.  To do this the products must be registered and the label visible on websites, product literature and installation guides.

The UWL and the European Bathroom Forum now urge all manufacturers, retailers and distribution companies to defend their position of a VA and commit to the UWL by signing the commitment letters; for already registered brands and those who have not yet registered.
These letters can be found on HERE
Please complete and return the letter to the European Bathroom Forum : vikki.hollins@europeanwaterlabel.eu

A huge thank you to those companies who have already signed the commitment letter – you are helping us to reach the 80% of the units sold in the marketplace
