CEIR’s contribution to the Inception Impact Assessment on the Machinery Directive

CEIR has submitted its contribution to the EC Inception Impact Assessment on a possible revision of the Machinery Directive.

CEIR welcomed the initiative of the EC and supported Option 1 in conjunction with Option 2 of the EC IIA. These consist in the alignment of the Machinery Directive with the New Legislative Framework, together with changes to its scope and definitions, particularly improving the definition of ‘partly completed machinery’.

CEIR is willing to cooperate with the EC in the revision process to find an appropriate definition of partly completed machinery, specific application, and other relevant issues, in the interest of all parties and in particular valve manufacturers.
