CEIR – CEMEP – EUROPUMP Joint Position paper on WEEE Directive

CEIR, together with CEMEP (European Committee of Manufacturers of Electrical Machines and Power Electronics) and Europump (European Association of Pump Manufacturers), has prepared a Position Paper on the WEEE Directive. The position Paper addresses the national implementation of the WEEE Directive, particularly raising that, within the need of regulating waste streams from electric and electronic equipment, the way the directive is implemented poses unnecessary administrative burdens on the companies.

Acknowledging that the national implementation of the WEEE Directive is responsibility of the Member States,  the Commission should anyway play an active role in better harmonising and coordination, which can reduce complexity and increase effectiveness of the system.
