VALVE TERMINOLOGY

This Glossary has been prepared to provide consistency In the terminology used to describe individual components and parts of valves and fittings. It is also hoped that it will assist in the work of international technical organisations. It is intended to add new items as they are introduced by members of CEIR.

The Glossary is divided into Sections, which will be added to as necessary. Each Section is devoted to an individual type of valve and its relevant parts. These Sections are listed in the following pages, headed Contents,

The Glossary is produced in English, French, German, Italian and Turkish. Other languages can be added on reverse side of the right hand pages.

It is intended that as new Standards are prepared and when existing Standards are revised, the terminology contained in them should follow this Glossary. Similarly, the numbering of the components, instead of varying from Standard to Standard, is now rationalised and grouped, so that every component has the same number throughout the Glossary. It is hoped that, in the course of time, this will also be the case with official Standards.

The Glossary is published in loose-leaf form, in order that additions and replacements can be inserted as occasion requires.
